Re: Kanye West announces POTUS run

He also released numerous tweets today that I found concerning and evidence of a possible mental health crisis. He's a very creative person and has a larger than life personality, but I'm genuinely worried about him.

Re: Black Lives Matter

Crushing retort Jason, I am flummoxed. Where do you think it'll end up if we start to allow paramilitary forces with no identification to snatch people off the street with no underlying justification? Especially when the government labels any opposition as "antifa" and then equates that opp...

I guess you'd feel right at home in 1970s Chile then. Crushing retort Jason, I am flummoxed. Where do you think it'll end up if we start to allow paramilitary forces with no identification to snatch people off the street with no underlying justification? Refugees aren't criminals. It's not illegal to be a refugee or to seek asylum.

Re: Toward a Worldwide Culture of Love

There is no alternative to capitalism that is viable. Also, capital enterprise need not be one that is devoid of love and filled with greed. Ethical capitalism is possible. Its all about the sila of the boss and the workers. An idealistic notion I once shared, but not today. Capitalism has its own ...

Re: a legal remedy for riots

So you'd agree that the founding fathers were all criminals then? Funny how champions of freedom and limited government glorify past protesters, mobs, and rebellion but seem perfectly fine with a large federal government as bad or worse than the English monarchy criminalizing and punishing dissent....

Re: Black Lives Matter

B. I just want to make sure I'm reading this right. Are you saying that you believe that federal agents shipped into a state by the DHS have the right to simply grab anyone they want off the streets in unmarked vehicles and detain them without any charge? And that you agree with this? If the people...

Re: Black Lives Matter

Wanting to abolish capitalism and the police is the nimitta of a Marxist 🤷🏻‍♂️ You are aware that not all anti-capitalists are Marxist, right? And also that anti-capitalism predate Marx and is found in political traditions outside of the realm of Marxism? Oh I understand why socialists hate Israel....

Re: Black Lives Matter

BLM UK has among some of its demands the abolition of capitalism and the abolition of the police. So, its a no for me since they are a blatant Marxist organisation. Why is it that every conservative here calls anything they don't like Marxist? What is specifically Marxist about BLM besides the fact...

Re: Black Lives Matter

The federal government is now literally kidnapping black lives matter protesters off the streets of Portland, OR, in unmarked rental vans and critically injuring people. Wondering where are all the small government defenders of freedom are now? BLM outrages you but not this? Portland, (where I live...

You think the majority of people want to be without enough food, clothing, shelter, access to healthcare, access to education, money to make ends meet, etc.?

Re: Toward a Worldwide Culture of Love

Love compels us to move away from things like greed, selfishness, and competition and towards generosity, compassion, and cooperation. That's at least why I was drawn towards social engagement and more to left-leaning politics, because that's where love and compassion directed me. That doesn't mean...

Re: Black Lives Matter

Those things are relevant, yes. I'm more wondering about the need to point out that you happen to currently live in a more diverse location than me and how that relates, whether you're agreeing with me, disagreeing with me, or what. I mean, maybe it's just an aside. I'm just trying to understand if ...

Re: Black Lives Matter

Just curious how that's relevant to the topic or what I said. The lack of diversity in Portland? Just noting that there is a lack of diversity there and Kamau Bell even had a show about that. I don't think we should ignore the findings of Black American journalists just because we find it uncomfort...

In addition, since you brought up Portland's liberalism, I'll mention that this issue is also one of the reasons I'm not a liberal myself. Because I think that both liberal and conservative policies have contributed to this problem in various ways primarily due to the fact that the roots are deeply ...

Re: Black Lives Matter

Yes, while I'm originally from Michigan, I currently live in Portland, OR and I'm well aware of its history and facts such as black and hispanic people are twice as likely as white people to be stopped and searched even though statistically white people are more likely to have contraband. Which is y...

Re: Black Lives Matter

I'm also supportive of the many creative ways people are showing their support. For example, today they are having an hour-long, public meditation in support of BLM where I live. From the event page : A silent meditation (sitting, standing, or walking, depending on each person's preference and the w...
