Re: Amod Lele on Disengaged Buddhism

Bhante, if I may ask, would you say that the Cakkavatti is not an engaged Buddhist? I'm afraid I don't at the moment have any opinion on the matter. It just isn't something that I've ever thought about. However, I've just got to the part where Lele discusses the cakkavatti rājā, so I may have an op...

Re: Recommendations

For Buddhist fans of Scandinavian crime fiction (are there any besides me?) I recommend Karin Alvtegen's Shadow (or Skugga if you read Swedish). Though I've no reason to think the author intended any such thing, her dark and haunting story might serve as a fine allegory of Dhammapada 71 ("An evil de...

Re: Venezuela: epic mismanagement or non-conventional warfare?

Do you mean to say you have evidence these numbers are completely false? From the 2012 presidential election onwards Hinterlaces has regularly been accused of receiving government funding and publishing bogus polls, as have a couple of the others listed. Other pollsters, notably Datanálisis, have b...

Its called feudalism, look it up!!
I'm curious to know where you looked it up. As far as I know, most historians see Indian feudalism as having begun nearly a millennium after the Buddha — i.e., at the tail end of the Gupta Period, not in the Iron Age.

Would be interested to hear Dhammanando on this subject. That I doubt. You will not in future be...

Unfortunately I don't know of any publicly available texts of TNH's book Vietnam: Lotus in a Sea of Fire
It is available from archive.org, but it has to be "borrowed" (i.e. read on site) rather than downloaded.
