Re: "If you're going to San Franshitsco... Be sure to wear some Hazmat protective gear"

Speaking of shit, a homeless man threw a bucket of hot diarrhea on a woman in Los Angeles recently . . . https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/diarrhea-poured-on-woman-hollywood-homeless/2112762/ How did he get it hot? He must have boiled it? :o I've noticed the Skid Row area of Los Angeles has b...

Re: Pelosi announces formal impeachment inquiry

TRUMP IMPEACHED!! Article I 229 yes 197 no Article II 228 yes 198 no But of course it won't go through the Senate, so this is all pretty much just symbolic for the Democrats. Tulsi Gabbard voted "present" on both Articles of Impeachment. And a few Dems voted against, otherwise completely down party...

a good example of how the wealthy get rich and keep their riches!!
Nah, it's just a bad boy who inherited his riches and is exploiting his workers; which certainly wouldn't extrapolate to all people who own a business.

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

total BS graph, for instance the 1942 Nazi party is closer to the current GOP than democrats!! I don't agree with the bias of the graph, I just was looking for a political spectrum (left to right) graph to post for my post above, explaining how nearly all nations are capitalist, just at different p...

Re: Trump signs order declaring Judaism a nationality

I can see why Jews are divided on this issue (although the majority support Trump's declaration). If they are seen as a nationality, then some might say leave [whatever country they are in] and go back to Israel. And it is a talking point of the white supremacists to say they are a nationality and a...

Re: Pelosi announces formal impeachment inquiry

U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary committee passes articles of Impeachment by a vote of 23-17. From there it goes to the full house floor. It will pass the full House vote. And from there it goes to the U.S. Senate for trial where it will fail (67 of 100 Senators needed to convict / remove fro...

Re: Trump signs order declaring Judaism a nationality

The tribe of Judah (with Benjamin) chose to leave the Tribes of Israel in around 1,000 BC. The Kingdom of Israel became extinct soon after. Correct, along with the tribe of Levi. The tribe of Judah had its capital in Jerusalem. The Kingdom of Israel had its capital in Shechem (present day Nablus) o...

Re: Trump signs order declaring Judaism a nationality

So far, there appears to be mixed reactions from American Jews. Many are speaking in praise of it, believing it will help curb anti-Semitic acts. Others are opposed to it, one person saying something like, " so what do we do now? do we surrender our American passports and get a 'Jewish' passport? th...

Re: Trump signs order declaring Judaism a nationality

Trump signs order declaring Judaism is not just a religion, but also a nationality. Nationality is a legal relationship between an individual person and a state. So which state are all Jews a nationality of? Good question, people have been debating that for centuries, perhaps even millennia...

Trump signs order declaring Judaism a nationality

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/10/politics/trump-order-judaism-nationality/index.html Trump signs order declaring Judaism is not just a religion, but also a nationality. It's apparently to allow more protection for Jews and provide more protection against anti-Semitic attacks and divestment activities....

I get really confused by the term "liberal", since, as an adjective it means "willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas" But as a noun it tends to mean a conservative political party... Language does have odd ways of evolving... Mike Yes,...

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

OK, well, arguments about whether certain things are "socialism", or, simply "big government" (ownership or strong regulation of key services by the government) or "safety nets" (free or subsidised social services, including medical care) are not particularly interesting, but I would point out that...

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

So what would actually qualify as socialist in your mind David? Free health, child care, government ownership of many businesses is all just "capitalist"? No one factor can be used, but the means of production and private property rights rank high in determining if a nation is capitalist, mostly ca...

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

As she points out, if various social services and government ownerships in, say, Scandanavian countries are brought up, then the response is "but those are still capitalist countries". But if it is then suggested that perhaps free health care and child care should be considered, then those suddenly...

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

I don't think it is a coop in this case. It is a government-run grocery store, in socialist fashion. And it's working Okay, cool, still good, in my opinion. Capitalism and free market does not preclude that either. A true free market allows competition. It's a small town, we'll see if the practice ...
