Saturday Protest Against the Imprisonment of Children.

Post by Wizard in the Forest » Wed Jun 27, 2018 2:29 pm

I'm heading out to protest this Saturday to protest the internment camps of the kids kidnapped from their parents. I'm not close enough to the camps to do anything else meaningfully to help, but I encourage people to participate if they can.

The executive order that Donald Trump signed is not a solution to the crisis created by his administration; it keeps kids imprisoned indefinitely, and doesn't reunite thousands of separated families. But it does show the administration is reacting to public pressure, so on Saturday, June 30, there's events in various states to say that families belong together—and should be free for what is essentially a :quote: crime :quote: less serious than a traffic violation, or what is not a crime at all (seeking asylum) .

Wish me luck, guys! Hopefully it all goes well. I'll update you all after the protest. :anjali:

FAMILIES BELONG TOGETHER—ATTEND A JUNE 30 EVENT!
UPDATE: June 27, 2018, 10:00 AM ET — EVENTS ARE STILL ON!
A federal judge ruled against Trump's family separation policy—but we know the administration will fight back. We have momentum and we cannot slow down now since the the court ruling along isn't enough and could be overturned. Our mobilization, in over 600 locations around the country and still growing, is critical to showing the widespread public demand for just immigration policies—because families belong together ... and free!

All went well, and it seemed to be an enormous crowd.

Hopefully there will be meaningful action afterward.
