Please be mindful to avoid ad hominems and passive-aggressive behavior

Post by fwiw » Fri Nov 09, 2018 4:47 am

For the mods: feel free to delete this topic if deemed inappropriate

But I think a reminder not to use ad hominem judgements but instead engage on the substance of the claims appears increasingly necessary to improve the conviviality and quality of the discussions here

Also negative judgements about vast categories of people some of the other users seem to fall in (whether it actually is the case or not) followed by recusals that it constitutes any kind of ad hominem constitute unbeneficial passive-aggressive behavior (not to say toxic in regard to conviviality), in my opinion
... in my opinion (<- meaning unless one is talking about something one has been a direct witness of, every single thing anyone ever says is no more than an opinion. Also, don't ask me to do your research for you)

Thanks, fwiw.
I hope your reminder was not really necessary but the fact that you thought it might be is a sign in itself that it might be useful.

I will leave it here for all to see and ponder, but I don't think we need any discussion of it so I will lock it.
