Ranking the potus 2020 Dem. candidates

Post by DNS » Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:04 pm

Just for fun . . . (not to be taken too seriously and my opinions may change)

Most Dharmic candidate: Tulsi Gabbard (she's a Hindu)

Most athletic candidate: Tulsi Gabbard (surfer, martial artist, martial arts instructor)

Most military experience: Tulsi Gabbard (Major, US Army National Guard)
close 2nd place: Pete Buttigieg (Lieutenant, US Navy)

Most anti-war candidate: Tulsi Gabbard (although some other candidates might be equally anti-war, she was one of the first to be opposed to interventions in the Middle East)

Best looking candidates: Tulsi Gabbard and Corey Booker

Highest proficiency in economics: John Delaney (co-founded 2 successful companies, both public)

Most political experience (perhaps most qualified?): Joe Biden (36 years in US Senate, numerous chair positions, 8 years Vice President)

Most intelligent: Pete Buttigieg (alumnus Harvard and Oxford)

Coolest candidate: Beto O'Rourke (skateboarder, had a punk rock band)

I might add some more categories later. No one category should be used solely for making a decision on voting, of course; this is just for fun.

Bernie Sanders, currently 77, would be 79, oldest ever elected, if elected.
Youngest?
Pete Buttigieg, 37 (born 1982)
close 2nd place: Tulsi Gabbard, 37 (born 1981)
Biggest stake in the future (kids/grandkids under voting age)?
Tulsi Gabbard

I think Sen. Bernie Sanders is both the strongest anti-war and most progressive candidate.

He was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam war. He opposed the 1983 US war against Nicaragua. He was against US military force to get Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait. He was against the Iraq war and predicted the formation of ISIS. He sponsored the bill to discontinue the formerly secret US involvement in the Saudi Arabian war in Yemen.

He has only supported uS military intervention twice: for the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan after the US was attacked (Sanders opposed the continued occupation) and the war in Kosovo to stop the humanitarian crisis. He opposes US unilateral military intervention and US military action that has not been approved by congress, as per the constitution.

Bernie Sanders on Kosovo:

Bernie Sanders advocated for progressive positions, such as universal single payer healthcare, free public college, $15 minimum wage, and public child care, when such positions were considered radical - these positions are now mainstream among Democratic candidates and are supported by the majority of the American people.

Bernie is also the most handsome candidate over 50 years of age!

BTW, Biden is in all of the polls, but he has yet to announce.

Here is Bernie's speech against the way on Iraq

:thumb: Sanders and Gabbard are consistently anti-war and maybe a few other Dems. It's getting harder to find anti-war Dems lately. Since Trump came out for withdrawing troops from Syria, all of a sudden some Dems became pro-war. Politics is crazy sometimes. It's like some Dems want to oppose Trump no matter what, no matter what he says.

I prefer the more consistent, peace loving ones, not flaking with the winds of partisan politics.
